The Foundation for Local Journalism is a non-profit society dedicated to providing financial support for investigative journalism and local stories that benefit BC’s communities.
The Foundation for Local Journalism’s co-founders, BW Homer and Jennifer Timer, have spent almost two decades working with businesses and telling their stories.
Milestones
BW Homer begins writing on SubStack.
November 2024
BW Homer raises the idea for Freelancer Press and the Foundation for Local Journalism with Jennifer Timer.
January 2025
The Foundation for Local Journalism officially becomes a registered non-profit in BC.
April 2025
The first board of directors meeting is held.
May 2025
Freelancer Press becomes the Local Observer.
July 2025
