Butterflies In Spirit, a dance and advocacy group made up of Indigenous women from Canada and women from Latin America, honoured Mother’s Day with a powerful performance — mixing dance and personal storytelling to raise awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls in Canada, as well as disappearances around the world.

The event was part of the exhibition “Dancing With Our Ancestors: Weaving Connections Between Communities” organized by the Transformative Memory International Network in collaboration with Butterflies in Spirit. It is open every day, admission free, until Wednesday, May 21, at UBC Robson Square in downtown Vancouver.
